Intraday trades must be closed on the same day, but you may not be able to if a stock hits a circuit limit. Buy position with lower circuit: If the stock hits the lower circuit (only sellers, no buyers), you can't close your position. It will convert to a delivery trade, requiring extra funds on T+1 day, as no leverage is offered. Sell position with upper circuit: If the stock hits the upper circuit (only buyers, no sellers), you can't buy back to close your sell position. The stock will go to auction, and a penalty will be charged. How will I know whether I am eligible for corporate actions announced by the company or not? To understand this, you need to understand two concepts: Record Date: This date is announced by the company, and you must have the stocks credited to your Demat account on or before the record date to qualify for corporate action. Ex-Dividend Date: Stocks take T+1 (Trading+1) day to be delivered to your Demat account. Ex-Dividend date is the day by which you must make the transaction so that the shares are credited to your account by the record date. Any buy transaction made after the ex-dividend date will not be eligible for corporate actions. Note: Corporate action benefits are directly credited to the eligible shareholders by the registrar and the broker does not play any role in the same. Why am I not able to buy options stock close to expiry? There are 2 reasons for restricting entering into a long position in the stock options in the last 2 days of the expiry. Physical Delivery: Contracts nearing expiry are exposed to physical delivery. Hence, to avoid physical delivery of shares trade is restricted. Margin Requirements: Margin requirements can exponentially increase if your option contracts become due for physical delivery. Since stock options can be illiquid, it becomes difficult to exit the contract which increases the risk. How much intraday leverage / Margin does m.Stock provide to trade in Equity? With m.Stock, you get up to 5 times intraday leverage for equity trading. So, if you have Rs. 1 lakh, you can buy or short stocks in intraday up to Rs. 5 lakhs. As per SEBI regulations, Margin shortfall penalty is applied to positions with insufficient margins. Accordingly, you are required to ensure that all types of margins viz. SPAN, EXPOSURE, VAR/ELM, DELIVERY MARGIN, and MTM Margin are adequately available in your m.stock account always. Margin shortfall can happen due to several reasons such as the increase in volatility, price fluctuation, increase in margin requirement by exchanges, mark-to-market (MTM) losses or squaring hedge position, etc. Under these situations, the penalty is applied if the margin requirements are not met. You need to ensure that a sufficient margin is always maintained against the open positions/trade. In case of any margin shortfall, the Risk Management team will square off the position on a best-effort basis. Margins can be monitored on a real-time basis on m.Stock mobile app and web trading platform under 'Reports' > 'Funds Summary' and appropriate, timely action can be taken to avoid position square-off from the RMS team. Further, if MTM loss (including full net option premium) reaches 75% of the available margin, the position will be automatically squared off. The penalty levied in case of a shortfall in the margin for F&O positions or equity trades: Short collection for each client Penalty percentage (< Rs 1 lakh) And (< 10% of applicable margin) 0.5% (= Rs 1 lakh) Or (= 10% of applicable margin) 1.0% When will I receive my Equity Intraday profits? You will receive your equity intraday profits post settlement from the exchange, which takes place on the next trading day (T+1) for F&O and equity (cash). However, if the settlement day is a holiday, then your intraday profits will be available on the next trade settlement day. Note: If you use these unsettled funds for your trades, a margin penalty may be levied on your account. Why are intraday (Day Trade) orders not allowed for some stocks? Intraday trading involves leverage (funded by the broker) and therefore these positions carry high risk. Thus, a broker can restrict intraday transactions in certain stocks. Intraday orders can be blocked if the stock is an illiquid stock and the risk of not being able to exit a position is high. This can result in short deliveries, in some cases. Reason for intraday orders being blocked is: Market volatility / Low liquidity or volume List of stocks available for trading in intraday. https://www.mstock.com/equity-trading/intraday-stock-lists Why was my sell order rejected for the reason "Intraday/BTST is not allowed in scrip”? Intraday and BTST (Buy Today Sell Tomorrow) orders are blocked in m. Stock in various cases including the following: T2T (Trade for Trade) segment GSM (Graded surveillance measures) by NSE/BSE ASM (Additional surveillance measures) by NSE/BSE Order placed in Unapproved scrips/Z category scrips What does the Order Rejection “Buy orders are blocked as the stock is in watchlist for unsolicited SMS tips circulation” mean? SEBI and the exchange have noticed that unsolicited messages are being circulated by unauthorized entities via Whatsapp, Telegram, SMS, Calls, etc. to induce investment or sale of stocks of certain listed companies, indicating price manipulation or speculation. Accordingly, buy orders are blocked as the stock is on the watchlist for unsolicited SMS tip circulation. In line with exchange regulations and RMS policy, trade restrictions are placed on the exchange's list of unsolicited SMS stocks. What is MTM (Mark to market) Alert? m.Stock will send an MTM loss alert to you when your mark-to-market loss (MTM) on an open position exceeds 50% of the available margin. You are requested to monitor the Margin utilization (including MTM loss) viz-a- viz available margin on a real-time basis on APP/WEB and take appropriate timely action to avoid any square-off from RMS. Alerts will be sent at 60%, 70%, etc. Once the threshold of 75% of the available margin is breached, then the RMS team will square off all the open positions to minimize the losses without further intimation. Accordingly, the client needs to infuse additional funds to minimize the MTM% or square off the position to limit the losses. How is average buy price of your positions calculated? The concept of average price arises when you buy same stocks but in multiple tranches. For example, say you buy 100 shares of ABC Ltd. for ₹300 per share. Your total purchase value is ₹30,000 (100 shares multiplied by ₹300). Say you make another purchase of 150 shares of the same stock for ₹350 per share. The total purchase value for this tranche is ₹52,500 (150 shares multiplied by ₹350 per share). Now your average purchase price will be ₹30,000 (1st tranche) + ₹52,500 (2nd tranche) divided by total number of shares purchased i.e. 250 (100 – 1st tranche and 150 – 2nd tranche). That means, total buy value ₹82,500 divided by the total qty 250 shares is ₹330/ How is the average buy price of your open position calculated when you partially sell shares, whether the sale is at a profit or at a loss? There are two types of ‘GTT’ orders - Single: A single GTT order is used when you are placing a buy order (taking a fresh position). Here, you can define both trigger and limit price which can be higher or lower than the current last traded price. For example, you want to buy shares of ICICI Bank Ltd, currently trading at Rs 900. However, you expect the stock price to fall to Rs 750 – Rs 800 levels in the coming months. Normally, you will have to track the stock every day till your target price is hit. But with a GTT order, you can place a limit buy order at Rs 750 with a trigger price of Rs 760, which will stay valid for 365 days. So, whenever the stock hits your trigger price of Rs 760, your limit buy order of Rs 750 will be placed automatically. One Cancels the Other (OCO): OCO order is used to place sell orders (from your existing holdings). Here you can define target and stop loss price. For example, say you already own 100 shares of ICICI Bank Ltd. in your Demat account with an average purchase price of Rs 750. The stock is currently trading at Rs 900. Now you place a sell OCO GTT order, with a target price of Rs 1,000 and a stop-loss of Rs. 600. So, if your target trigger gets hit, your stocks will get sold at Rs 1,000 and the stop-loss order of Rs. 600 will get cancelled automatically and vice-a-versa. GTT order validity GTT orders remain valid for 365 days. Are there any additional charges for placing GTT orders? No, there are no additional charges for placing GTT orders with us.
